The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity is a hard-hitting comedy about professional wrestling, pop culture, and the ways identity is performed for an audience. Kristoffer Diaz’s Pulitzer Prize finalist follows Macedonio “The Mace” Guerra, a talented wrestler whose job is to lose to a more famous opponent. Through the spectacle of the ring, the play examines cultural stereotypes, media manipulation, and the bravery required to refuse a role that has been written for you.
