Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys bring their longstanding blend of Americana and roots music to Hank Dietle’s Tavern for two performances. Led by singer and songwriter Big Sandy, born Robert Williams, the Southern California group draws on country, doo-wop, rhythm and blues, rockabilly, and other traditions that shaped early rock ’n’ roll.

Formed in 1988, the band has spent nearly 35 years touring and has released more than two dozen recordings. Big Sandy’s musical style is informed by a personal collection of roughly 75,000 records, while a critically praised tribute to Tex-Mex singer Freddy Fender, issued during the 2020 lockdown, reflects the group’s continuing musical development.
