Will Varley

Will Varley performs at Jammin Java with Will Lawrence as part of the Jammin Java/Union Stage Presents 25th anniversary concert series. Varley is a British singer-songwriter from Kent whose richly detailed work combines vivid imagery, surrealism, emotional depth, and dystopian themes. His songs include the post-apocalyptic “Dreamland” and the ambitious “Weddings and Wars,” which attempts to condense world history into four minutes.

Varley has earned praise from artists including Billy Bragg, Skin of Skunk Anansie, Adam Duritz, Tim Minchin, Donovan, and Simon Nicol of Fairport Convention. He has toured extensively throughout Europe and the United States, performing at venues such as Shepherd’s Bush Empire and the Royal Albert Hall and opening for Frank Turner, Valerie June, and The Proclaimers. During the pandemic, he wrote his first novel, produced Eagle-Eye Cherry’s “Hit and Run,” and placed third in an international songwriting competition judged by Tom Waits and Coldplay, among others.

His independently made music videos have accumulated millions of YouTube views, while his recordings have surpassed 30 million Spotify streams. Varley signed with MNRK Music Group in 2023 and is preparing his seventh studio album after recent songwriting work in Nashville and Los Angeles.
