BEGINNER'S BREATH: 100 CUPFORMS

Beginner's Breath: 100 Cupforms is the debut book by artist Sarah J. Hull, launched as a one-day event at Studio 1469. The linen-covered hardback recounts Hull's journey into glassblowing, which began in October 2023 when she set out to understand glass's material properties for a project combining textiles and glass. Over 130 pages of photographs, illustrations, and text, the book documents the creation of 100 "cupforms" produced during 80 hours of work in a Baltimore hot shop—a process that evolved into an unexpectedly rich artistic narrative. Attendees can view the book and presumably the cupforms themselves during this three-hour pop-up.
