Foundations and Futures: The Driskell Center and the Black Art Archive
Foundations and Futures: The Driskell Center and the Black Art Archive is a two-day symposium marking the 25th anniversary of the David C. Driskell Center at the University of Maryland, College Park. Over the course of the event, scholars, artists, archivists, curators, and cultural leaders will gather to examine the role of institutional archives in preserving, interpreting, and advancing the histories of Black art. The symposium will delve into how archives, collections, and museums shape cultural memory, as well as the challenges of collecting Black art today.
When: Thursday, November 5, 2026, all day, through Friday, November 6, 2026.
