Mason Jazz Ensemble Concert: Fall 2026

The George Mason University Jazz Ensemble opens its 2026–2027 season with an evening of straight-ahead jazz inspired by House Concurrent Resolution 57, the 1987 Congressional resolution that called jazz “a rare and valuable national American treasure.” The program celebrates jazz as America’s indigenous art form and its enduring cultural, educational, and international significance.

The concert also honors legendary saxophonist Sonny Rollins, whose fearless creativity, imagination, and lifelong dedication to artistic excellence influenced generations of musicians. Through works by great jazz masters, the ensemble explores a tradition grounded in freedom, collaboration, innovation, and cultural heritage.
