Mason Jazz Ensemble Concert: Fall 2026

The George Mason University Jazz Ensemble opens its 2026–2027 season with an evening of straight-ahead jazz rooted in America’s musical heritage. The program recognizes House Concurrent Resolution 57, the 1987 congressional resolution that declared jazz a rare and valuable national American treasure and affirmed its importance as an indigenous American art form with cultural, educational, and international significance.

The concert also honors legendary saxophonist Sonny Rollins, celebrating his fearless creativity, expansive imagination, and lifelong commitment to artistic excellence. Through works by major jazz masters, the ensemble will explore themes of freedom, collaboration, innovation, and the continuing evolution of the jazz tradition.

Showtime: 7:30 p.m.

Venue: Center for the Arts, Concert Hall, Fairfax Campus, George Mason University

Tickets: $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $10 for youth. Prices include fees.

Student Tickets: A limited number of free student tickets will be available two Tuesdays before the performance.

Program: The performance program is expected to be available during the week of the event.
