Brian Bromberg with Special Guests - Recording Release
Brian Bromberg presents a recording-release performance at Blues Alley with special guests. Bromberg is a versatile jazz bassist whose career began in Tucson, Arizona, in a musical family. He started as a drummer, later moved from cello to bass, and was performing professionally from his early teens.
His major breakthrough came in 1979, when Marc Johnson recommended him to saxophonist Stan Getz. At 19, Bromberg joined the Stan Getz quintet, launching a career that has included live performances, session work, film soundtracks, television appearances, and collaborations with prominent artists. His solo recording career began with *A New Day* in 1986; he has since released 28 solo projects worldwide, earned a 2007 Grammy nomination for *Downright Upright*, produced more than 13 charting songs, and sold more than a quarter-million jazz albums.
