Stand-Up Showcase

Stand-Up Showcase brings four comedians from the Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and broader regional scenes to the DC Improv for a night of varied stand-up styles. The performers are presented on one of the country’s best-known comedy stages, with an intimate showcase format focused on emerging and established local talent.

John Jacobs has appeared on Season 1 of Netflix’s “Are You The One?” and Season 26 of MTV’s “The Challenge,” and has opened for Anthony Jeselnik, Margaret Cho, Doug Stanhope, Kevin Nealon, Nick Swardson, and others. Denise Taylor, a contributor to The Onion, has opened for Judah Friedlander, Chris Gethard, Kamau Bell, and Moshe Kasher, and regularly appears on the D.C. comedy shows Fale University and The Time Machine Roast. Randy Syphax has appeared on The Tonight Show, in The New York Times, and at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, and was named one of Comedy Central’s Comics to Watch. Bob Holden, who began performing in 2018, draws on personal experiences and everyday observations; he is based in St. Pete, Florida, performs regularly at Side Splitters Comedy Club and the Tampa Funny Bone, and founded St. Pete Stand Up and owns St. Pete Comedy Club.
