Angine de Poitrine

Angine de Poitrine, featuring Annie-Claude Deschênes, brings a high-voltage blend of asymmetrical rock, pulsing drum grooves, double-neck microtonal guitar, and hypnotic sound and visuals to Lincoln Theatre. The project’s theatrical, surreal premise follows space-time voyagers Klek and Khn de Poitrine as they marvel at hot dogs, pyramids, and the excesses of rock music.

The band’s music draws from acid techno, disco, and rock. Its 2024 release *Vol. 1* helped build enthusiasm after performances at major Quebec festivals, including the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. The newer *Vol. 2* pushes loop-based music toward faster tempos, more dynamic structures, and humor hidden in the details. The page also highlights “Mata Zyklek,” a frantic, cinematic piece that evokes a low-budget action film chase.

Performer background: Annie-Claude Deschênes is a multidisciplinary Montreal musician and performance artist who has spent more than two decades in the city’s independent music scene. She is known as the former frontwoman of Duchess Says and PyPy, and her solo work explores dystopian disco, minimal pop, electronic music, and the relationship between music and stage performance.
