Stanley Clarke & Hiromi: Music of Chick Corea and Beyond

Stanley Clarke and Hiromi Uehara team up for an evening devoted to the music of their friend and mentor, Chick Corea. The program balances Corea’s own compositions with new works influenced by his legacy, bringing together two artists who knew him from very different angles. Clarke, a four-time Grammy winner and NEA Jazz Master, spent years alongside Corea in the fusion group Return to Forever, while Hiromi’s path was shaped by Corea inviting her to perform with him in Tokyo when she was seventeen. The duo is joined by PUBLIQuartet, a string quartet that mixes classical rigor with improvisation and global sounds, giving the concert an additional layer of texture and invention.

The evening is part of Strathmore’s Windows series and also includes a pre-concert talk that explores the musical relationships among Clarke, Corea, and Hiromi.
