Free
Featuring: Roberto Tejada, Christina Wiginton, Kaira M. Cabañas

Roberto Tejada and Christina Wiginton present *Art & Water: Volume 2*, a collection from the National Gallery of Art’s Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts that brings together essays, personal meditations, and images about water’s renewing, destructive, corrosive, and connective powers. The book considers water across modernist literature, poetry, film, natural environments, and built spaces, addressing subjects such as hydrolatry in India, ritual practices among enslaved Afro-Surinamers, millstone traces in Seville’s architecture, and nineteenth-century visualizations of sea-level change.

Tejada and Wiginton will discuss the book with Kaira M. Cabañas. The volume also includes an enclosed poster by Brazilian multimedia artist Aline Motta, whose work explores ancestry, memory, and belonging across the Black Atlantic. Tejada is an award-winning poet, art historian, and University of Houston professor; Wiginton specializes in color-critical print production for museum and nonfiction books; and Cabañas is an award-winning art historian and associate dean at the National Gallery of Art’s Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts.
