Mark Cetilia & Eric Wong / slowdanger / Zach Mason
This interdisciplinary performance brings together the generative sound-and-image systems of Mark Cetilia, Eric Wong’s spatial and perceptual approach to sound, slowdanger’s fusion of body-based performance, media, and experimental music, and Zach Mason’s improvised electronic drones. The evening moves across electroacoustic experimentation, processed vocals and textures, ambient and noise influences, and live manipulation of the performance space itself.
Cetilia works with analog and digital technologies, developing custom hardware and software systems that turn controlled randomness into performances of sound and image. Wong, a Minneapolis-born, Hong Kong-raised musician and sound artist based in Berlin, explores how people relate to sonic environments through spatialized sound and deliberately pared-down gestures. Pittsburgh-founded slowdanger, created by life partners taylor knight and anna thompson, combines movement, media, experimental club music, noise, ambient influences, processed vocals, and abrasive textures. Mason’s current drone work treats the room as an instrument by repeatedly recording, processing, amplifying, and recapturing its ambient sound.
When: Sunday, October 25, 2026
Showtimes: Doors open at 7:00 PM, with the show beginning at 7:30 PM. The listed event window is 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Tickets: $15–$25
Venue: Rhizome DC
Lineup: Mark Cetilia, Eric Wong, slowdanger, and Zach Mason
Mark Cetilia: An interdisciplinary artist working between analog and digital media, Cetilia has spent more than two decades creating custom performance systems for sound and image. He is a member of the media art group Redux, which received a Creative Capital Emerging Fields grant for the large-scale installation *Callspace*, and of the electroacoustic ensemble Mem1.
Eric Wong: Wong’s work centers on auditory perception and human relationships with sonic environments. He frequently uses spatialized sound and minimal musical gestures rather than building conventional linear narratives.
slowdanger: Founded in Pittsburgh in 2013 by taylor knight and anna thompson, slowdanger creates multidisciplinary performances that connect sound, the body, and media. Their sets draw from experimental club, noise, and ambient music while incorporating processed vocals and intensely textured physical performance.
Zach Mason: Mason performs improvised electronic drones, using the venue itself as a sound source through cycles of recording, processing, amplification, and re-recording.
