Cirque Kalabanté: WOW (World of Words)

Cirque Kalabanté’s *WOW (World of Words)* is a physical theater and circus performance about communication that reaches beyond spoken language. Drawing on ancestral African storytelling, songs, ritual initiation, acrobatics, rhythm, and contemporary movement, the work brings two groups together across a symbolic divide: one shares its knowledge while the other listens, learns, and sometimes responds with fear or resistance.

As the performance develops, gesture, sound, and rhythm overcome the initial language barrier. Double Dutch skipping, bungee straps, rope-based contortion, and acrobatic contact transform the set into a living vocabulary. Three guiding figures—Trust, Respect, and Wisdom—shape the journey, which ultimately dissolves the separation between the performers and culminates in a collective choreography of unity and awakening.
