Gateways 2026
Gateways 2026 is the annual conference for the science gateways community, bringing together researchers, engineers, educators, and federal program officers who develop and support computational platforms for large-scale research. These web-based gateways give scientists access to high-performance computing clusters, extensive datasets, and specialized instruments without requiring them to manage the underlying infrastructure. They support work in areas including genomics, oceanography, digital humanities, and public health.
The program begins with a keynote from Michael Schatz, Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Computational Biology and Oncology at Johns Hopkins. Other featured programming includes a panel with representatives from the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Department of Energy, and other funding agencies; a discussion of how artificial intelligence is being incorporated into gateway workflows; and an interactive session with experts from SGX3, an NSF-funded Center of Excellence. The conference also includes open-access publication of peer-reviewed papers and live demonstrations of deployed systems.
