We the People
We the People is a special concert celebrating liberty, independence, and the universal human longing for freedom and dignity. The program follows that theme through powerful works from Bellini’s *I Puritani*, Verdi’s *Nabucco* and *Il Trovatore*, Beethoven, Bernstein, Copland, Rodgers & Hammerstein, and Handel, evoking the spirit of *risorgimento*, or the rising again of a people.
The concert features soprano Renée Fleming, tenor Jonathan Tetelman, baritone Thomas Hampson, and Amber R. Monroe, recipient of the Marian Anderson Award. Robert Spano conducts this 90-minute program, which is presented without an intermission.
