Truck Violence / Oxrun / Fantazma
Truck Violence headlines an abrasive, DIY-focused night of noise rock and punk at Rhizome DC, presenting music from its second full-length album, *The weathervane is my body*. The record builds on the band’s debut, *Violence*, with an uncompromising blend of noise rock and post-hardcore shaped by refusal, self-determination, and the traditions of Canadian underground music.
Baltimore noise-rock quartet Oxrun and DC punk band Fantazma complete the bill. Oxrun brings feedback-heavy guitars, pounding rhythms, and confrontational vocals, while Fantazma combines chaotic riffs, shifting tempos, breakdowns, dark atmospheres, Latin music influences, and bilingual political lyrics.

Truck Violence: The band’s second full-length, *The weathervane is my body*, is presented as an attempt at reconciliation through refusal. Karsyn Henderson and Paul Lecours grew up in a French Canadian town of about 600 people, where they were already operating a local studio and radio station by age 15. At 17, they moved to Montreal, where they joined Chris Clegg and Thomas Hart, who came from other parts of the country, and built Truck Violence without industry backing or established infrastructure.
Album: *The weathervane is my body* is Truck Violence’s first album released through San Francisco label The Flenser. The band handled the group’s composition, recording, mixing, and visual media internally, treating its DIY approach as a necessity rather than an aesthetic or marketing strategy. The album extends the angry, self-directed approach of the band’s debut, *Violence*.
Visual concept: The cover photograph was shot by the band on film on Montreal’s Avenue du Parc. It depicts a bare-backed figure crouched on a small, handmade Quebecois-style house built from reclaimed materials, set against the city skyline. The image reflects the album’s themes of rural identity, vulnerability, displacement, and resistance.
Oxrun: Baltimore noise-rock quartet featuring members of KNUB, Gloop, Mass Ego, and Silk Leash. Their sound pairs feedback-saturated guitar and forceful rhythms with aggressively delivered vocals.
Fantazma: A DC punk band drawing from multiple hardcore and metal subgenres. Their music incorporates frantic riffs, tempo changes, heavy breakdowns, and ominous atmospheric passages, along with Latin music influences and bilingual, explicitly political lyrics.
