THE TRIUMPH OF F.A.U.V.E.L. - An Ass!
The Triumph of F.A.U.V.E.L. — An Ass! is an immersive, site-specific production from INseries Opera, created in co-production with the early music ensemble ALKEMIE. It presents a new English version of the medieval *Roman de Fauvel*, adapted by scholar and poet Andrew Albin. The source is described as a roughly thousand-year-old work of poetry and music, a biting political and social satire about a jackass named Fauvel — a name drawn from six of the deadly sins — who becomes king of the world in a strange, dystopian realm. This staging turns the story into an audience-moving experience filled with acrobats, puppets, song, dance, and a shifting tone of whimsy and horror. After a Director’s Salon preview, the production travels to three cities in June 2027: Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and New York City.
When: June 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, and 13, 2027 in Washington, D.C.; June 18, 19, and 20, 2027 in Baltimore; and June 25, 26, and 27, 2027 in New York City.
