FSGW’s annual fall picnic brings the folk community together at Glen Echo Park for a potluck lunch, membership meeting, dancing, singing, and jamming. The centerpiece is a multigenerational Sunday Barn Dance and Open Band led by caller Penelope Weinberger, with Gina Faber and Liz Donaldson directing the music. Guests may also join the musicians or simply enjoy the community gathering.

The event takes place rain or shine in the covered Bumper Car Pavilion. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish or snack for the potluck, and no musical or dance experience is needed.

When: October 11, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Venue: Bumper Car Pavilion, Glen Echo Park, Maryland

Schedule: Potluck from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM; FSGW membership meeting from 12:30 to 12:55 PM; Barn Dance and Open Band from 1:00 to 3:00 PM; open jam from 3:15 to 5:00 PM

Barn Dance: Penelope Weinberger calls the dance, with music led by Gina Faber and Liz Donaldson. Additional musicians are welcome to join the open band.

Open Jam: Gina Faber and Liz Donaldson lead the 3:15–5:00 PM jam. Guests may bring an instrument and a tune to share, or attend simply to listen and participate in the community.

Potluck: Bring a dish or snack to share if you are able. FSGW provides lemonade, plates, cups, napkins, and utensils.

Membership Meeting: The brief meeting includes a review of FSGW’s accomplishments from the past year, plans for the coming year, introductions to the 2026–2027 Board, and information about volunteer opportunities.

Ages and Experience: All ages and ability levels are welcome. No musical experience is necessary for the open jam.

Tickets: Free

Registration: RSVP requested so organizers can estimate attendance.

Weather: The event is rain or shine because all activities are held under cover in the Bumper Car Pavilion.
