YARD ACT
Since steering their golden Rover to swift public acclaim in 2020, Leeds quartet Yard Act have become one of the decade's great indie success stories, earning a Number Two chart placement and a Mercury Prize nomination for their debut album *The Overload*, as well as a co-sign from Elton John. Their second album, *Where’s My Utopia*, is a giant leap forward into broader, more playful sonic waters, produced jointly by the band and Gorillaz’ Remi Kabaka Jr. The record draws from influences ranging from Fela Kuti to Ennio Morricone to Spiller’s “Groovejet,” and finds vocalist James Smith turning his lyrical gaze inward, wrestling with the duelling sense of responsibility and ambition that came with becoming a father while the band’s trajectory soared. The result is a celebratory, exploratory set of songs that stare fully into the headlights of life—with jokes. Supporting the headliners is THE ARMED, rounding out a night of inventive, high-energy rock.
