Porkchop Volcano improv
Porkchop Volcano is an audience-driven improv comedy show in which the performers use audience suggestions to build a different, personal performance each time. The group is known for sharply drawn characters, strong chemistry, and a lively, spontaneous style. The show has been recognized by DC Metro Theater Arts, the Washingtonian, DC Theatre Scene, and CBS DC, and the team also performs corporate and private events.

Anna Bethel: Bethel is a Washington, D.C., comedy performer who teaches short-form improv. She served as managing director and lead improv coach for ComedySportz Washington, D.C., through 2021, and has performed with multiple improv teams in the region. She teaches and coaches teams and individuals, performs regularly at DC Improv, and leads customized corporate and private shows. She joined Porkchop Volcano as a permanent member in 2016 and also performs with the group in videos and podcasts. Her professional improv training began at ComedySportz, D.C., in 2010, and studying sketch-comedy writing from improv with Kevin McDonald of Kids in the Hall inspired her work across multiple forms of media. Conor O’Rourke: O’Rourke has more than 14 years of comedy experience. He discovered improv in college and joined ComedySportz in 2009. He helped establish Porkchop Volcano in 2013, and the group has since appeared at DC Improv, Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse, Brightbox Theater, the Charm City Comedy Festival, and other venues. He leads corporate team-building workshops, has taught introductory improv at DC Improv and the Comedy Spot in Northern Virginia, and continues to perform throughout the DMV.
Matt Stephan: Stephan is a founding member of Porkchop Volcano and has spent 20 years performing improv in the Washington area. He performed with ComedySportz DC for 15 years, developing his quick-witted, spontaneous style. His work includes shows for audiences of all ages, workshops, private performances for major clients, classes, and team coaching.
