The River is Alive

A River is Alive is a solo exhibition by Pat Silbert at Waverly Street Gallery. The paintings consider rivers as living entities and reflect on humanity’s dependence on the wider natural world. Drawing on Buddhist ideas about the connections among people, wildlife, and plants, Silbert’s work seeks to inspire a sense of peace and a deeper respect for life.

The exhibition also responds to environmental changes Silbert has observed, including the decline of paper-bark birches in southern New Hampshire, fewer songbirds, and the increasing vulnerability of living beings as the planet warms.
