Pianist, arranger, composer, and bandleader Chuchito Valdés brings a deep lineage of Cuban jazz to Blues Alley as part of the Cuban Jazz Series. Born in Havana and hailing from one of the island's most celebrated musical families—son of Chucho Valdés, grandson of Bebo Valdés—he spent years leading the world‑renowned band Irakere, which his father founded. A master of Cuban styles including mambo, danzón, timba, and guaguancó, Chuchito also brings extensive classical training to his playing, alongside a lifelong passion for American jazz and influences such as Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock, and Chick Corea (with whom he has shared the stage). His current project, *Reflections*, showcases original compositions and arrangements that draw on classical harmonic and structural techniques.
