Featuring: Dr. Lucy McBride, Franklin Foer

Dr. Lucy McBride, a primary care physician with over twenty-five years of experience, will discuss her new book *Beyond the Prescription: A Doctor's Guide to Taking Charge of Your Health* in conversation with journalist Franklin Foer. The book outlines a five-step process—redefining health on your own terms, understanding your broad health ecosystem, reckoning with your patient personality, asking for and getting the help you need, and accepting what you cannot control—to help readers shift from passive patients to empowered partners in their own care. McBride, a graduate of Princeton, Harvard Medical School, and Cambridge (as a Fulbright Scholar), completed her residency at Johns Hopkins and now practices in Washington, D.C., where she also writes the newsletter *Are You Okay?* and hosts the podcast *Beyond the Prescription*. Foer is a staff writer at *The Atlantic* and author of *The Last Politician: Inside Joe Biden’s White House and the Struggle for America’s Future*.
