JOAN MIRÓ: From the Kreeger Collection
The Kreeger Museum presents Joan Miró: From the Kreeger Collection, a special exhibition that brings together the museum’s complete holdings of works by the Spanish Surrealist master. This focused show features prints and unique pieces spanning Miró’s experimental printmaking career, including the monumental *The Mallorca Suite*, *Makemono*, and *El Vol de l’Alosa (The Flight of the Lark)*. The exhibition marks the first time these works have been shown in a decade, offering a rare opportunity to see Miró’s innovative use of techniques such as woodcut, lithograph, intaglio, and carborundum on diverse materials like silk, Guarro paper, and handmade paper. A biographical note highlights Miró’s collaborative practice with master printers including Roger Lacourière, Stanley William Hayter, Fernand Mourlot, and Aimé Maeght, and notes that over his 70-year career he created more than 2,000 prints.
