Top Shelf
Story District’s Top Shelf returns to Washington’s historic Lincoln Theatre for its 16th edition, bringing together a curated lineup of standout local storytellers. Each performer will share a true story drawn from personal experience, with subject matter ranging from love, family, faith, and bad decisions to unexpected turns and situations that once seemed like a good idea. The stories may be hilarious, heartbreaking, strange, or deeply familiar, but all are original, personal, and told by the people who lived them.
The lineup changes each year, while Story District maintains its emphasis on smart, carefully crafted storytelling. The event’s concept began in 2010 as a way to reunite favorite storytellers for a celebratory performance. For three decades, Story District has helped DMV-area creatives and professionals shape lived experiences into compelling performances through coaching, classes, and live events.
