Young Fresh Fellows bring their spontaneous, collaborative album *Loft* to Hank Dietle’s Tavern, with Washington, D.C. power trio Dot Dash opening the evening. More than 40 years into their career, the Young Fresh Fellows continue to pursue instinctive, immediate music rather than looking back, combining garage-rock energy, piano-driven songs, jazz influences, and personal songwriting.

*Loft* began during the band’s 40th-anniversary tour for *The Fabulous Sounds of the Pacific Northwest*. With NRBQ drummer John Perrin joining Scott McCaughey, Jim Sangster, and Kurt Bloch, the group used a day off in Chicago to record at Wilco’s Loft studio. Arriving without equipment or a fixed plan, they created a full album in roughly eight hours, with many songs completed in only one or two takes. The project later expanded with new arrangements and guest appearances from Neko Case, Peter Buck, and members of Wilco and The Decemberists.

Dot Dash is a D.C. power trio featuring guitarist and vocalist Terry Banks, bassist Hunter Bennett, and drummer Danny Ingram. Their compact, hook-filled songs blend jangly guitar pop, vocal harmonies, garage-rock drive, classic power pop, college rock, and post-punk. Banks and Bennett previously played together in Julie Ocean, while Ingram’s past credits include Youth Brigade, Strange Boutique, and Swervedriver. The band’s releases include *Proto Retro* and *Madman in the Rain*.
