Triumph: Noseda conducts Prokofiev
Gianandrea Noseda leads a program tracing music’s movement from wit and tension toward resilience and triumph. The concert begins with the sparkling theatricality of Igor Stravinsky’s *Scènes de Ballet*, followed by Joseph Haydn’s spirited Symphony No. 85, “La Reine,” a work associated with the admiration of the French court.
The centerpiece is Sergei Prokofiev’s monumental Symphony No. 5, composed during World War II. Its humanity, sense of struggle, and hard-won optimism shape the program’s culminating journey toward a victorious symphonic experience.
