Make Up Party: The Beach
Make Up Party: The Beach is the latest edition of the DC Improv’s recurring creative challenge, now themed around everyone’s favorite summer vacation destination—or perhaps a more war-torn beach, depending on the performers’ inspirations. For one night only, comedians, sketch troupes, and improv teams from across the DMV will present five-minute comedy sets built around the beach theme, competing for audience cheers and a cash prize. The show is hosted and produced by Chris White, a longtime fixture of the DC comedy scene, and is open to both participants and spectators looking for a lighthearted, unpredictable evening of live comedy.
When: Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 7:30 PM.
Showtimes: Doors open at the standard DC Improv time for a 7:30 PM show; the runtime of the event is not specified but typically runs about 90 minutes to two hours depending on the number of competing acts.
Tickets: The all-in price (including service charges) is $7.50. The raw text also mentions “for just $6,” which may refer to a base ticket price before fees; in either case, tickets are available through the DC Improv’s official website only. Third-party tickets are not accepted.
Lineup: Confirmed stand-up comedians include Stacey Axler, Jillian Cardillo, Chief Premier, Tim Kovack, Jana Doughty, Daniel Seckinger, and Mudit Verma. Confirmed sketch team: Haley-McKenna. Confirmed improv teams: MC Slimm Slappy, Pandora’s Inbox, and Breakfast Schnitzel. Additional participants may be added; prospective performers can sign up via a Google form (link provided on the event page) to compete as teams of one to six people, with a maximum of twelve teams. Performances must be no longer than five minutes and incorporate the beach theme.
Competition Rules: Teams prepare stand-up, sketch, a pun routine, improv, or any comedy format. The audience decides the winner by cheering, and the winning team receives a cash prize.
Host/Producer: Chris White, who also hosts Comedy Kumite, Pun DMV, and DC Improv Date Night. He has two stand-up albums available.
Venue: DC Improv, 1140 Connecticut Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20036. Phone: 202.296.7008. Email: support@dcimprov.com.
