Wordplay Wednesday: America 250

Join Planet Word Museum on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. for a special America 250 edition of their after-hours happy hour and game night, Wordplay Wednesday. This celebration of the nation's 250th anniversary invites guests to explore all three floors of the museum after dark, including the interactive “Unlock the Music” karaoke gallery and the “Joking Around” humor gallery. Themed activities include a 1776 Slang Match, Declaration of Independence Black-Out Poetry, a collaborative whiteboard flag asking “What Does the 4th of July Mean to You?”, and a Short Story Dispenser that prints a poem about America to take home. In the Lend Me Your Ears gallery, a special A250 exhibit takeover allows you to deliver a historic American speech yourself. This event is part of Planet Word’s Language & Liberty: 250 Years of America series.

When: Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Tickets: Pay what you can, $5–$25. Planet Word members receive free admission for two to Wordplay Wednesday events.
Activities: 1776 Slang Match, Declaration of Independence Black-Out Poetry, collaborative “What Does the 4th of July Mean to You?” whiteboard flag, Short Story Dispenser (poem printout), and historic speech delivery in the A250 exhibit takeover at the Lend Me Your Ears gallery.
Galleries open after hours: “Unlock the Music” karaoke gallery and “Joking Around” humor gallery, plus all three floors of the museum.
Add-on option: Lexicon Lane, an immersive puzzle experience on the third floor (separate ticket may be required).
