Swing 5 Jazz/ Includes beginner Balboa dance lesson @7:15
Swing 5 brings a lively French-inspired take on 1930s jazz and swing to Hank Dietle’s Tavern. Led by local guitarist James Key and influenced by Django Reinhardt, the band combines slap bass, two rhythm guitars, accordion, and fiddle for fast-tempo music made for dancing.
The evening begins with a beginner Balboa lesson taught by Glen Echo instructors Tony Treston and Katherine Anderson. This footwork-focused style is suited to energetic music and crowded dance floors; no partner is required. After the lesson, attendees can stay to dance during Swing 5’s performance.
