Phillips after 5: Jazz Soirée is an after-hours evening at the Phillips Collection on Thursday, August 6, 2026, created in partnership with DC JazzFest. The museum opens its galleries for a lively mix of live jazz, DJ music, hands-on crafts, gallery talks, and special food and beverage stations, all set against the backdrop of the collection.

Lineup: The featured performers are the Donvonte McCoy Quartet, jazz guitarist Ben Scott, and DJ Ebb King of Eaton Radio Workshop. A Spotlight Talk with a Phillips Educator is also included.
About Donvonte McCoy: Donvonte McCoy is a Washington, DC–born trumpeter regarded as one of today’s finest jazz players. He has toured with Lionel Hampton, Jason Moran, Eric Wyatt, Curtis Fuller, Charles Davis, Larry Ridley, Mikki Howard, Marcus Johnson, Steve Williams, and Larry Willis, among many others. His debut CD, Third Floor, was well received by Washington DC’s City Paper. As a native Washingtonian, McCoy’s quintet performed regularly at the historic Bohemian Caverns, and his ensemble was featured weekly for over a decade at the Eighteenth Street Lounge. He has also performed as a jazz soloist with Aretha Franklin, Ruth Brown, El Debarge, Fantasia, and many others.
About Ben Scott: Ben Scott is a jazz guitarist, composer, and educator based in Washington, DC. Originally from Virginia Beach, his interest in jazz developed after joining his high school band, where he was introduced to the tradition. A recent graduate of James Madison University, he completed a bachelor’s degree in music performance with a concentration in Jazz Studies. During his studies he encountered influences ranging from Charles Mingus and Billy Strayhorn to Lage Lund and Julian Lage. Around DC, he can often be found performing at jam sessions and other music venues.
About DJ Ebb King: Ebb King is a DC-based DJ who entered the scene in 2021 and has built a reputation for genre-fluid sets spanning nostalgic hits, house, disco, hip hop, and more. She has DJ’d prominent events like Everyday People and has opened for artists including Aluna & Majid Jordan, Marc Rebillet, Zack Fox, and Odeal. Her client list includes Gucci, Jordan Brand, the Smithsonian, and Alo. Influenced by artists such as Kaytranada, Peggy Gou, and Black Coffee, her sets blend infectious rhythms with soulful beats designed to keep people moving.
Activities: During the evening, visitors can create ribbon brooches and feather boutonnieres inspired by the elegant fashions of the Jazz Age, test their jazz knowledge for a chance to win tickets to DC JazzFest while supplies last, join a Spotlight Talk with a Phillips Educator, and enter the membership giveaway.
Food and drink: Bread Furst will offer food and drink specials for purchase in the Phillips House galleries and cafe. Exclusive tasting partner Spirits and Spice will offer liqueur samples.
