PREWN
PREWN, the project of Izzy Hagerup, comes to Songbyrd Music House on June 24, 2026, with support from Pearl Sugar. Hagerup’s new album, *System*, is described as a “private journal made public”—nine songs that chronicle a deeply personal journey through depression, undercut by humor, selfishness, and self-reflection. Written and recorded mostly in long bedroom sessions, the album reckons with guilt, shame, self-absorption, and societal pressures, pulling from what Hagerup calls “a period of time that was more numb, hollow, and confused.” Following her 2023 debut *Through The Window* (which Pitchfork hailed for its ability to “sit with ugliness”), *System* finds Hagerup crawling deeper into the night, capturing a restlessness born from desperation to record fleeting inspiration. Songs like the title track and “Dirty Dog” confront cycles of depression, the music industry, patriarchy, and capitalism, all with an intentionally imperfect, glitchy quality. Pearl Sugar, the project of Chris Bugnacki, explores childhood memories and dreams through lyrics that blur the boundary between dreamworld and reality, performing alongside bandmates Christie Clause and Dave Bugnacki.
