Gallery Experience: Pop-Up Performance
Gallery Experience: Pop-Up Performance offers a brief, intimate solo presentation of *Landscape for Birds* inside the Hirshhorn’s exhibition *Revolutions: Art from the Hirshhorn Collection, 1860–1960*. The performance takes place near Joseph Cornell’s *Untitled (Aviary with Yellow Birds)* and features music drawn from the 21st Century Consort’s forthcoming concert, *An Unsecret Garden*.
The 21st Century Consort has been the Smithsonian Institution’s resident contemporary-music ensemble since 1978. Founded in 1975 and led by founder and conductor Christopher Kendall, the group includes principal musicians from the National Symphony Orchestra and other prominent chamber performers from Washington, DC, and beyond. The ensemble received the Smithson Medal in 1990 for its long association with the Smithsonian.
