Measure for Measure

Folger Theatre presents William Shakespeare’s dark comedy *Measure for Measure* as part of its 2026–2027 season. The production examines the tension between human behavior and the law, asking whose voices are suppressed and whose are heard during a period of social upheaval.

Directed by Psalmayene 24, the staging relocates Shakespeare’s morally conflicted world to the 1950s American South. Newly imposed regulations punish ordinary citizens, while a lively group of bawdy residents continues to create mischief in a city where public morality and private conduct collide. This is Folger Theatre’s first production of *Measure for Measure* since 2006.
