Croz Boyce (Avey Tare and Geologist of Animal Collective)

Croz Boyce features Dave Portner, known as Avey Tare, and Brian Weitz, known as Geologist, the two Animal Collective musicians behind the duo’s self-titled debut. Their instrumental music was created remotely, with the longtime friends exchanging files across state lines. Across nine tracks and approximately 40 minutes, the record combines acoustic guitar textures with electronics to explore friendship, distance, worry, hope, frustration, tenderness, and absurdity.

The project reflects the pair’s long creative history and close personal bond, presenting an atmospheric and emotionally varied celebration of a friendship maintained over many years, even when the musicians are not working in the same physical space.
