Claudio Rubio Quintet - Chilean Jazz Series
Claudio Rubio, a Chilean saxophonist, composer, arranger, and educator, leads his quintet at Blues Alley as part of the Chilean Jazz Series. Rubio is known for a distinctive contemporary jazz style shaped by jazz tradition, original composition, and improvisation.
He graduated summa cum laude from William Paterson University’s Jazz Studies Program, studying with artists including Rich Perry, Jim McNeely, and Dave Liebman. As a performer and collaborator, he has worked with Cristián Gálvez, Camila Meza, Nicolás Vera, Francesca Ancarola, Ensamble Quintessence, and Antonio Monasterio Ensamble, appearing on stages across Japan, Colombia, Canada, England, Spain, Denmark, and Switzerland.
As a bandleader, Rubio has released four albums: *Tristano!* (2011), *Hijo* (2017), *Música Para Ascensores* (2019), and *Ella Lleva El Fuego* (2025). *Hijo* was nominated for a Pulsar Award, while *Ella Lleva El Fuego* won the Pulsar Award for Best Jazz Album.
