"Brushwork: Motion & Movement" Exhibit
“Brushwork: Motion & Movement” presents Chinese brush paintings by Tracie Griffith Tso at the Hunters Woods Gallery. Her work explores the lively forms of flowers, birds, animals, and other subjects through traditional brush-painting techniques.
Tso began painting bamboo forms as a child in a California brush painter’s studio. She later developed her approach under the guidance of a teacher trained by a Hong Kong master and became known for spontaneous flower-and-bird compositions and freestyle animal paintings. Her subjects include koi, rabbits, squirrels, Siamese cats, birds, horses, frogs, and more. She paints with traditional ink on rice paper and silk, using bamboo-handled brushes made with wolf hair.
