Purlie Victorious

Purlie Victorious, written by Ossie Davis and directed by Psalmayene 24, follows Purlie, who returns home on a mission to buy back his father's church and liberate sharecroppers from the brutal segregationist who runs their plantation. The play features a madcap plot, survival techniques forged in the Jim Crow South, and satiric targets as urgent as when it premiered in 1961. Its 2023 Broadway revival was nominated for six Tony Awards.
