Sejoe

Sejoe, whose real name is Alexandre Ducasse, is a Haitian-American stand-up comedian celebrated within the Haitian community as the “Haitian Dave Chappelle.” His comedy draws on his childhood in Haiti, his move to the United States, and the cultural contrasts between the two countries. The performance is presented as a special event in the DC Improv main room.

His stand-up special, “Nou Chaje ak Pwoblèm” (“We Got A Lot of Problems”), is available on Amazon Prime. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Haiti, Sejoe developed a distinctive comedic perspective shaped in part by political upheavals he experienced there, including a presidential coup and an American military invasion.

Sejoe began posting comedy videos online in 2009 after leaving a planned medical career. His work has since accumulated more than 50 million YouTube views and over 250,000 social-media followers.
