Grouper, the musical project of Pacific Northwest artist Liz Harris, brings her 12th full-length album *Shade* to the Lincoln Theatre in Washington, D.C. The concert presents a collection of songs spanning 15 years, described by Harris as an album about respite and the coast—both poetically and literally. The performance explores themes of loss, flaws, hiding places, and love, deeply rooted in the Bay Area and the North Coast, evoking moods of solitude, beauty, and isolation through landscapes shaped by river-mouths, wild maritime storms, and columns of mist. Harris weaves a hidden radiant language of voice, disquiet, and guitar, framed by open space and a sense of being far away. Portions of the album were recorded on Mount Tamalpais during a self-made residency, others in Portland, and more recent sessions in Astoria.
