Rainbows of Delight: Photolithography

A 2-day workshop intensive led by printmaker Fleming Jeffries, "Rainbows of Delight: Photolithography" introduces photolithography as a tool for both drawing and multiple-plate printing. Over two sessions, participants will create a two-plate photolithograph: a drawing layer printed over a rainbow roll (blend of multiple colors) background. The first day covers image preparation on transparency film, plate registration, exposing, developing, and processing, then mixing and modifying color litho ink for the rainbow roll. The second day is an intensive printing session with rainbow rolls in the morning and the drawing plate in the afternoon. The workshop is held at the Printmaking Studio and requires intermediate printmaking experience (working knowledge of inking, registration, etc.) but not prior lithography experience.

Lineup: Instructor Fleming Jeffries, a visual artist and printmaker whose work explores the intertidal zone between human cultures and the natural world. She holds a BFA in Printmaking and BA in Russian from University of Alaska Anchorage, an MFA in Printmaking from Rhode Island School of Design, and completed the Printer Training Program at Tamarind Institute. She has shown internationally, including in the group show “Imagine Climate” at Anderson Ranch Art Gallery, and has taught at VCU School of the Arts in Qatar.
