Sounds of the District
Sounds of the District brings together four emerging acts for a free showcase at Pearl Street Warehouse. The lineup spans indie and art rock, country-pop, and other contemporary sounds, featuring Quiet Hours, Offleash, Mancala, and Kailey Jane.
Quiet Hours is a five-member group from Maryland whose members met in college dorm lounges and began developing music during their free time. Their songs draw on formative experiences and shared memories, with an emphasis on creating personal connections with listeners.
Offleash is listed with the note “Petite,” formerly known as “shorter.”
Mancala is a Washington, D.C.-area self-produced art rock group. Its debut album, *We’re Only Getting Older*, combines guitars, synthesizers, orchestration, and layered percussion across several rock styles. The record explores the loss of innocence, political and cultural concerns, environmental issues, family trauma, heartbreak, rejection, and anxiety about the future.
Kailey Jane is an 18-year-old country-pop singer-songwriter whose work is thoughtful and emotionally candid. Growing up in a family with five siblings exposed her to varied voices and perspectives, influencing how she listens, observes, and writes.
