Linocut Workshop

Learn the fundamentals of linocut printmaking in this four-hour hands-on workshop. Participants will work through image transfer, carving, inking, and pressing while creating a postcard-sized block. Each student will take home their finished block, several prints, and an instructional zine about linocut printing.

The workshop also includes an opportunity to compare soft rubber blocks with the pre-carved Battleship Gray linoleum supplied by the instructor. If time permits, participants can practice printing with a simple roller-style press.

Materials and takeaways: Participants will receive materials for making a 4-by-6-inch postcard-sized block and will leave with the block, several impressions, and an instructional linocut-printing zine.

Workshop activities: Image transfer, block carving, inking, pressing, comparison of rubber and linoleum blocks, and possible practice with a roller-style press.
