Study Hall

Study Hall is a salon-style gathering for sharing ideas, questions, and creative work in an informal, school-free-period atmosphere. Topics may include anything attendees might have discussed between classes or in the cafeteria, including subjects that would not necessarily be brought to a dean. No expertise is required: participants are encouraged to present an interesting question, prompt a discussion, or share something they have learned.

Presentations can continue until the group begins asking questions, at which point they can develop into an open-ended conversation. Attendees may also bring visual, audible, written, or other creative work to share at the beginning, between presentations, or at the end of the gathering.

Tickets: $0–10 sliding scale

Format: Participants sign up to present a topic when they arrive. An agenda can also be added before the event through the registration page. Presentations have no fixed time limit and may transition into question-and-answer discussions.

Presentations: Expertise and complete answers are not required. Attendees may present something they learned, propose a question for group discussion, or share a work of art or a project in any medium.

Discussion policy: Conversations follow Chatham House rules. Participants may use information they receive, but may not reveal the identity or affiliation of the speaker or any other participant.
