Juan Megna

The Juan Megna Group brings contemporary jazz together with the rhythmic traditions of Argentina and Brazil. Led by Argentine percussionist, drummer, composer, and bandleader Juan Megna, the ensemble explores jazz improvisation alongside chacarera, milonga, candombe, Afro-Brazilian music, and traditions associated with Candomblé.

Megna spent more than a decade performing and collaborating in São Paulo before relocating to the Washington, D.C., area in 2017. His debut album, *Mariwô*, released in 2024, features original compositions and has earned international recognition for its sophisticated fusion of jazz, Argentine music, and Afro-Brazilian rhythms. The album’s musicians include saxophonist Tedd Baker, guitarist Shawn Purcell, pianist José Luiz Martins, bassist Leonardo Lucini, and guest artists Emmanuel Trifílio, David Sacks, and Alisson Crockett.
