Puppet Lab
Puppet Lab is an open, performance-focused puppetry development space at Rhizome DC. It gives participants a supportive setting to experiment, take creative risks, test works in progress, and learn from mistakes. Participants can present material for feedback, lead improvisations, or work with the group to solve specific scenes and explore how a show might function.
The lab supports creative growth, puppet-manipulation skills, idea sharing, constructive feedback, and the development of a broader puppet-theater community. Previous sessions have explored shadows, Laban, suspense, metaphor, music, voice, clown, character development, props, tabletop puppetry, humanettes, and hand puppets. People of all experience levels are welcome, and anyone may lead a session on an aspect of performance.
