Alexander D'Agostino: Something Wicked (Exhibition)
Something Wicked is an exhibition by Baltimore-based interdisciplinary artist Alexander D'Agostino (also known as Glitterwitch), presented by Transformer in collaboration with the Folger Shakespeare Library. The show continues D’Agostino’s evolving multidisciplinary project *The Fairy King's Grimoire*, which originated from an artistic research fellowship at the Folger focused on Folger Manuscript V.b.26, a 16th-century book of magic. The work considers Oberon, the king of the fairies, as a queer archetype of magic and liberation, moving between historical scholarship and living ritual. The installation transforms Transformer’s space into a chamber of magic and memory, echoing the venue’s history as a former spiritual healing shop called the Prosperity Shop, and offers a glimpse into magic as a tool for individual and collective justice. D’Agostino draws on the history of magic, queerness, and the abject, treating the witch as a figure of deep ecological, political, and bodily knowledge. The exhibition runs from March 21 to April 25, 2026, with a community open house and meet-the-artist reception on opening day.

Special Programming: The Fairy King's Grimoire Artist Talk & Performance Event at the Folger Shakespeare Library on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 4 PM. Free, registration required. The performance is a queer spirit invocation drawn from Folger Manuscript V.b.26, blending Early Modern Ceremonial Magic with Glitterwitch Burlesque. Location: Reading Room of the Folger Shakespeare Library (201 East Capitol Street, SE, Washington, DC 20003). Enter through East or West Entrance.
