Between Riverside and Crazy

Between Riverside and Crazy is a Pulitzer Prize-winning drama by Stephen Adly Guirgis, presented by 1st Stage and directed by José Carrasquillo. The play follows ex-cop and recent widower Walter “Pops” Washington and his newly paroled son Junior as they navigate life in a rapidly changing New York City. When the NYPD pressures Pops to settle an old lawsuit, his landlord wants him out, the local liquor store closes, and the church refuses to leave him alone, old wounds and new houseguests collide in a struggle to hold onto one of the last rent‑stabilized apartments in the city.
