Pop-Up Activity: The Art of Hojalata

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with KID Museum’s hands-on exploration of hojalata, the colorful Mexican tradition of embossed tin art. Led by KID Museum’s Angelina Rios-Galindo, the activity introduces participants to the patterns, symbols, and stories associated with Mexican culture before inviting them to create their own embossed artwork.

The pop-up activity is part of general museum admission and is designed as a creative, participatory experience.

When: Sunday, October 4, 2026

Showtimes: 1:30–3:30 p.m.

Tickets: Museum admission is $15. The pop-up activity is included with general admission to KID Museum.

Activity: Participants will learn about Mexican tin embossing and make their own colorful hojalata pieces inspired by Mexican cultural patterns, symbols, and stories.

Visitors may use nearby parking garages; Montgomery County parking garages are free on Sundays. ADA-accessible parking is available in the garage beneath KID Museum at 3 Bethesda Metro Center. Guests who need to use that lot for accessibility purposes should ask the front desk about parking validation at the end of their visit.
