Patricia Williams: *Transformations and Importations* examines how creative ideas travel across time, media, and artistic forms. The exhibition follows musical connections from a secular love song dating to around 1600, through a Christian passion hymn scored by Bach in 1656, Tom Glazer’s 1947 protest song, and Paul Simon’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and “American Tune.”

Williams transforms these musical influences into visual art. Some paintings translate the notes of musical scores into shapes and colors, while others convey the music’s emotional and intellectual meaning.
